Finally Some Pictures!

Hi All!

We finally have a few "after" photos to post on here! I apologize for being so horrible at updating this thing!  These last few months have been super busy with moving in and getting settled in the house, not to mention that we didn't have internet for the first couple of weeks.  We have so much to catch you all up on...but for now I'm just going to post pictures.  Eventually, I want to post some 'before' and 'after' shots side by side so that you are all able to see the huge transformation this house has gone through! Until then, enjoy...

Moving Day

All that's missing is the sectional...

Our makeshift entertainment center (made from Ikea bookshelves)

I painted three canvas' above the fireplace...only one was completed in this picture.

The sectional is in!

Paintings are finished and drapes are hung.

Art hung above the sectional.

TV in and bookshelves filled.  We still need to hide cords and set up surround sound.

Refrigerator, Microwave, & Warming Drawer

1970's Bathroom (it's actually growing on me!)

Office.  We each have a filing cabinet and drawers.  As you can see it's still in the process of being set up.  Vinni has made it clear that the chairs are only temporary until we find ones that are a little more comfortable.

We're not crazy about the rug, but until we find one that we like better, it stays.

Master.

Dog bed.  Usually she's half-on and half-off of her bed because the hardwood floors keep her cool on these hot days.

Vinni insisted that we put a TV in the bedroom, of course.

Guest Room. We still need blinds in the room, but for now we're not too worried about it.

Oh yeah, and if you didn't notice we're playing around with different blog names.  We'll let you know when we find one that sticks!

P.S.  There's a few steps missing that I plan on posting about in the near future (i.e., picking out floor stain, the floor stain process, baseboard & trim installation, painting touch-ups, running cable lines and drywall repairs, painting the front door, re-wiring the clothes line, yard transformations, etc.).  We've done a ton of work in the last few months and can't wait to share it with all of you!

California Dreamin'

Look what was installed this weekend...

This house is finally starting to look like a home!

While I was in California for bridesmaid duty, Vinni was hard at work installing the kitchen cabinets and painting the trim around the doors.  I felt a little guilty being in San Diego, wine tasting and enjoying the beach, but I knew that he had things under control :)

The kitchen was delivered the day before I left, so I was able to go see the cabinets before they were installed.  I begged Vinni to open one of the boxes just to take a lil' peek ( I couldn't resist, it was like Christmas morning!).

Peeking wasn't enough...I had to see the whole thing...

  & Ta-da! We have a cabinet!

Vinni ordered the cabinets from Lowes.  The cabinet finish is called Java.

We were so excited that we decided to bring it into the house in order to grasp an idea of what the whole kitchen would look like.

We ended up moving this cabinet around the entire kitchen "just to see what it would look like."  We spent an hour or so, admiring its full beauty (yes, we are dorks).  Mind you, we haven't had a kitchen cabinet in this house since the week Vinni closed.  We were excited, to say the least.

So what do ya think?  Not bad, eh?

Eventually, I'll scan all of the original plans that Lowe's drew up on the computer so that you all have a better idea of what it will look like with the appliances and countertops.  It's getting there...slowly but surely!

There's an App for That??

Yes, it's true, I've joined the 21st century and finally upgraded my phone for an iphone 4s.  I've only had it for about week and truthfully I have no idea what I was doing with a Blackberry for so long.  Sadly, my Blackberry was on it's last legs and definitely lacking in the software department.  Even Vinni had a cooler phone than me...imagine that!  Anyway, I've been downloading some pretty neat applications and recently I came across one called Pic Stitch....

It allows you to create diptych style images from your photo albums, which is great for before-and-after shots.

Here's a few I created to share with all of you...

Oh yeah, and if you haven't noticed, the hardwood floor is in and they are completely finished installing. The next steps are:
  • Door installation and painting each of them white
  • Trim and casing
  • Kitchen install (will be delivered April 12-15ish)
  • Wall paint touch ups
  • Finishing the electrical work (pendant lights in the kitchen, bathroom light fixtures, and a few other things)
  • Remove carpet on stairs to basement
  • Finish demo on basement rooms and paint the bathroom
  • Refinish and stain hardwood floors so hopefully they end up looking something like this:
