One Year Later

Hello All!

I can't believe it has been a whole year since our last post!  It's amazing to think that we have lived in our house for one year without killing each other (kidding), but seriously where does the time go!?

While we were sitting on the couch last night, I composed a list of all of the things that have happened this year so that we can share it with all of you...

1 Year Later:

  • I got my first contracted teaching job! (I think Vinni was more excited than I was)  I am teaching Kindergarten at Westminster Elementary in Adams County School District 50.  I absolutely love it!  I couldn't have asked for a better place to work.  Best part- it's 10 minutes away from the house!  Second best part-  I get to be a stay-at-home-girlfriend all Summer long! ;)

  • We bought a camping trailer.  This was technically our first big purchase as a couple, I nearly died while signing the papers.  It was much more expensive than I originally thought, but after camping 13 weekends in a row, I couldn't be more thankful to have a trailer.  Seriously a bed and bathroom make a world of a difference.

This is where we spent a majority of our Summer.

  • We installed a doggie door for Koda.

This was world changing!  After she ruined my beautiful rug in the living room, I about killed her.  Vinni decided we needed a dog door.  I guess this is what you get when you start working 12 hour days...

  • Koda gained about 15 lbs.  Don't worry she is on a diet now, and can still fit through the dog door.   :)

  • We finally installed hardware on our kitchen cabinets!

  • We bought a glass door to take the place of the awful white screen door.

  •  Yard work, yard work, and more yard work...

    Our first garden!

This year was just a trial run for us.  Neither of us had ever planted a garden before.

We planted 9 different pepper plants.
    3 cucumber plants.
    3 tomato plants.
    3 different herbs.

So far everything is doing really well except for the tomatoes. We're pretty sure we over-watered them and they died.  You win some- you lose some.  Next year should be better!

We also started our rock garden and planted some ground cover, which we hope will eventually fill in around the rocks.
Our trees were late bloomers this year

We got rid of the rocks in front and added mulch

    Our Next Project:

We plan to level out this dirt and create some multi-leveled planting boxes.  We haven't quite figured out what kind of materials we are going to use yet (rocks, recycled concrete, etc.).

I'll be sure to post some pics once we finish it!

  •  And for the last thing on our list of changes this year:  Vinni has gotten his first gray hairs!  He claims they are because of me (or all of the housework we have done in the last year). Who knows,  I just couldn't resist sharing.  :)
Hopefully this fills you in on what we have been up to for the last year.  This next year I will do my best to continue updating this blog...but for now I will leave you with a few miscellaneous pictures...
